IMPROVING COUNCIL DISTRICT 1 NEIGHBORHOODS
Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez launched an unprecedented initiative, investing over $2.4 million to deploy ten dedicated Clean Teams across Council District 1. Nine of these contracted teams operate five days a week, with an additional team working two days a week alongside LA Sanitation to enhance localized services, proving that local government can and will show up for our neighborhoods.

EMPOWERING PEOPLE
Clean Teams are made up of incredibly hardworking individuals, including local youth and justice-impacted Angelenos returning home. To make this possible, we partner with a coalition of dedicated service providers:
- Center for Employment Opportunities
The Center for Employment Opportunities is a national nonprofit providing immediate, comprehensive employment services and paid transitional jobs exclusively for individuals returning home from incarceration.
- Central American Resource Center - Los Angeles
As the largest Central American organization in the country, CARECEN empowers immigrants through legal services, civic engagement, and a Day Labor Center that connects hardworking people with reliable job opportunities.
- Chrysalis
Chrysalis is an employment social enterprise dedicated to serving individuals navigating barriers to the workforce by offering time-limited, paid employment to prepare them for long-term jobs.
- Koreatown Youth + Community Center
KYCC promotes socioeconomic empowerment by directing its comprehensive programs toward recently immigrated and economically disadvantaged youth and families in the multiethnic Koreatown community.
- Los Angeles Conservation Corps
The LA Conservation Corps empowers young adults to build a brighter future and transform their environment by providing paid job training, education, and hands-on experience in conservation and urban forestry.
- Victory Resources
Victory Resources is a local non-profit focused heavily on youth development and community impact, leading neighborhood beautification efforts while organizing massive community-building events like their annual Hood Olympics.
REVITALIZING MACARTHUR PARK
Public safety is deeply tied to the environment people live in every day. To revitalize the physical conditions around MacArthur Park, our Clean Teams provide sustained, coordinated cleanups throughout the week.
2025 Year In Review
Each month, within a half-mile radius of the park, our contracted crews remove about 250 dumped bulky items and 2,000 bags of litter, leaves, and trimmed weeds.
