Sandbags Available for Council District 1

Currently, there are no mandatory evacuation orders in Council District 1. However, we ask that all residents to stay informed about climate conditions in our region and develop a plan in case of climate disaster.
 
Sandbag Distribution
The rain has returned to Los Angeles. Be sure to grab a sandbag to help prevent flooding in your home. Sandbags are available at the following fire stations in or near Council District 1:

Air Quality Advisory
Protect yourself from wildfire smoke by wearing masks outdoors.  Free PPE, including N95 masks, is available at District Offices or your local public library. Check local air quality at airnow.gov or download the AirNow app.

Fire Response Volunteer & Donation Sign-Up
Our office has received an outpouring of offers to help, and we are working to centralize information about how people can lend a hand. Interested individuals can complete the form here

EVACUATION SHELTERS
Prioritize the safety of your loved ones during emergencies. If evacuation orders are issued, shelters are available in partnership with the Department of Recreation and Parks, the Red Cross, and LA City Animal Services. We will update the list below as other locations are activated.

LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
Los Angeles Unified has reopened most schools. If conditions remain the same or improve, LAUSD will resume additional activities. For the latest updates, click here.

RECREATION AND PARKS
Operations at LA City Parks and facilities have resumed, with exceptions for locations closed due to red flag warnings, those serving as shelters, or those requiring extended closures. For regular updates, click here.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS
The Red Flag Parking Restrictions were lifted at 8:00 am on Thursday, January 16. Visit lafd.org/redflag for updates and an interactive map.

Stay prepared as fires and high winds impact Los Angeles

SAFETY TIPS
 Call 9-1-1 for life-threatening emergencies.

  • Create A 'Go Bag': Pack your emergency GO bag with clothing, medications, important documents, water, non-perishable food, chargers, and a flashlight. Include masks and any supplies you’d need for loved ones and pets. Visit ReadyForWildfire.org for a comprehensive guide to building your emergency kit.
  • Charge and fuel up: Fully charge your phones and backup batteries. Ensure your vehicle’s gas tank is full or your electric car is fully charged.
  • Make a wildfire evacuation plan: When a wildfire is at your door, every second counts—know your evacuation route and confirm your loved ones know it, too. See a step-by-step guide here.
  • Protect your home: Clear debris, dead leaves, and other flammable materials from around your home. Close windows and vents to prevent embers from entering your home.
  • Safety First: Stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel during peak winds. Park off the street whenever possible to clear the roads for first responders.

REPORT DAMAGES

  • Power outage: To report an outage, call 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397) or visit ladwp.com/outages. You can also sign up to receive outage status notifications via email or text.
    • Under current conditions, customers experiencing outages should expect crews to respond between 24-48 hours from the time the outages are reported.
       
  • Damage to public spaces: To report downed trees, landslides, mudslides, potholes, or road erosion, use the MyLA311 app, visit myla311.lacity.org, or dial 311.

BusinessSource Centers

The City’s 10 BusinessSource Centers (BSCs) can provide free one-on-one consultation, business and employment support, and assistance with applying for forthcoming microenterprise grants and microloans. To find a complete list of BusinessSource Centers, use this Interactive Map.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance

Individuals and business owners who sustained losses in the designated areas can begin applying for assistance by registering online at disasterassistance.gov, or by calling 1-800-621-3362 or by using the FEMA App.

Los Angeles Regional Small Business Legal Aid Program

It offers free legal services to qualified small businesses on a number of legal issues such as review of commercial leases, assistance in communicating with landlords, reviewing insurance policies, navigating insurance claims, among other services. (LAEDC) offers no-cost consulting services to help businesses overcome challenges and find layoff aversion support.

Business Credit and Debt Counseling is available to help business owners counter negative financial impacts, recover, and strengthen their financial health.

Small Business Loans with customized fair and flexible terms can be used for a wide variety of business needs, including equipment purchases, working capital, and acquisitions.

The Department of Economic Opportunity

DEO has launched a dedicated emergency resources webpage to support businesses and workers impacted by recent wildfires. This centralized hub offers up-to-date information on recovery efforts, emergency programs, and resources. Access the hub here.

The U.S. Small Business Administration

(SBA) has established Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOC) in Los Angeles and Ventura counties to assist businesses, nonprofits, and residents impacted by the January 2025 wildfires.

At these centers, SBA specialists are available to help you:

○ Understand loan options to rebuild and recover.
○ Learn about programs for long-term recovery.
